Join us in celebrating 20 years of excellence in materials science and read our anniversary special, which highlights the past, present and future of our materials science flagship. Find out about landmark publications that were most downloaded and most cited, who their authors are, and how the geography of our journal changed over time. Starting out in 1988 as a 36-page section in Angewandte Chemie , Advanced Materials has gone a long way on the path of success, a path which certainly leads us on further into 21st century science together with our authors, reviewers and readers. Our first, energetic step into our third decade is the doubling of issues from January 2009 onwards – from currently 24 to 48 per year. With our new 2007 impact factor of 8.191 and record submission numbers, we are confident that we will offer you even more of the best content.
